I am hesitant to even speculate and cannot add anything to the information and views provided by those who've already posted. I just thought that it would be exceptionally unlikely for experience of running in Dartmoor to have any effect on eligability. I'm running the DMM too, but can't see that it would exclude me from running an OMM if local land owners are content for another event to be held in the same year. There is nothing in the regulations saying that prior experience of the environment is forbidden, and the event organisers don't ban locals from entry whatever location. What is frowned upon is regular training in an area with a specific purpose of gaining an unfair competitive advantage. Given my athleticism I'd argue hard that no amount of experience is likely to be giving me any kind of unfair advantage at all - unless cake eating on the move gains points this year.

Correct, the rules say that once the location is announced (which will be in August), you can't go for a recce.
If you want to guess where it is and go there before the announcement then there's nothing to prevent you doing so.
If there's another event in the same area after the location is announced, I can't see anybody trying to prevent you competing in it.

OK so to end all the speculation its Day 1 Bodmin Moor or Exmoor.  Then swap via a bus transfer overnight, so you get to compete in two different locations over the two days.  Watch out for the Beast!!

Should we really be discussing where or where not the event may be?!

No problem with guessing - but can anyone who actually knows the location please keep quiet!

The Cotswolds?   Living in Bath, I'm liking that suggestion a lot.... a walk to the start from my house would be nice!

Otherwise.... Dartmoor here we come!
