OMM Design Explanation
Mike's design philosophy
April 2008: The last 12 months has been very intensive with the setting up of the OMM lead user group: an invited group of lead users who are given their head to champion new ideas and concepts. After several months we are now at sample stage and what a thrill at long last to see see the fruits of our collaborative online efforts.
I am now doing what I know and love best; working with leading edge users to produce products suitable not only for the leading edge. But just as important, products suitable for those of my generation who like me need lighter and more efficient products to keep us in the game!
The first challenge is in the listening; to an oft apparently contradictory and multiple set demands. The second challenge is technical design problem solving but the sight of the end result in late March 2008 gave me a deep satisfaction.
My thanks go to all both those who ensured the core design team (Pete and Dennis and I) understood what was needed and to the many who kept us on track to ensure the ends results were practical. Gucci Mike, Petesy, Stu AIM and Stu Accelerate, Anna and Pasi, John, Marian, Jez, Terry, Gillian, Mark, Trevor and Al. And to the teams we sponsored who have all given should detailed feedback ( Nav-Art, Helly Hansen, Irish AR 1&2, Team Accelerate) which we embraced actively.
All these efforts are contributing to making really great products, second to none.
